Scope:
The Projects Finance Manager -Reporting Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports of projects and Ensure all financial reports comply with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards..
Roles and Responsibilities:
Management:
- Supervise and lead projects finance team, ensuring results by setting key performance indicators (KIPS) for all finance staff under his/her supervision along with expectations, coaching and mentoring employees and identifying training needs of staffs and closely working with learning and development to make sure that staffs are equipped with the skills required to carry out their work, planning, monitoring, and appraising performance along with the KIPS.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Oversee Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Support strategic decision-making by preparing financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis.
- Internal Controls: Implement and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial data.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure that financial reports adhere to relevant accounting standards, regulations, and laws (such as GAAP, IFRS, etc.).
- Performance Metrics: Develop and monitor key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and Analyze Reports:
- Produce accurate financial reports for senior management, shareholders, and other stakeholders.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of the company’s budget and forecast.
- Analyze budget variances and suggest corrective actions if necessary.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow, ensuring there are sufficient funds for operations.
- Report on cash flow forecasts to anticipate any potential shortfalls or excesses.
- Financial Compliance:
- Ensure all financial reporting is compliant with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process and ensure timely audit closure.
Cost Control:
- Work with department heads to analyze and control operational costs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
Financial Planning, Forecasting and Reporting:
- Compile and consolidate (assist in the compilation of) the periodic budget forecasts as per the planned activities and budget needs of each department as required with making sure the appropriate budget approvals are also met and submit to the CFO accordingly.
- Develop and suggest competent budgetary estimation mechanisms to achieving minimal variances between projected vs actual budget estimates.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, biannual and yearly financial performance reports to the CFO and Ensures that all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Analyze the variance between actual and budget and provide adequate explanation for major variances.
- Monthly review of financial results of the business units under the group, lead monthly review meetings and prepare monthly key financials profit & loss, statement of financial position, cash flow and other key ratios to the CFO together with a summary of wright ups for key changes against forecast (budget), last month and last year same period .
- Ensure accurate and timely year-end financial closings are successfully made.
Audit:
- Support internal and external annual audit processes.
- Monitor the investigation and resolving of audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
- Follow up with the audit findings and make sure that its addressed before next audit
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
- Provides advice and information on financial related issues as required.
- Perform other relevant duties as and when it is assigned by the CFO.
Requirements:
- Masters/Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting & Finance or related field of study
- Minimum of 6 years’ proven experience working in Finance/Accounting mainly in reporting out of which 2 years is in a Supervisory/managerial role.
- Demonstrated experience with working IN a construction firm is an asset, OR
- Experience working WITH affiliated organizations commissioning complex construction projects by hiring construction firms is an asset
- Candidates should have an international experience Or have worked for international companies here in Ethiopia
- Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and advanced reporting skill
- Knowledge of local finance and accounting laws and regulations in relation to the construction sector.
- Experience and working knowledge of using financial software and/or organizational ERPs
