Dodai Manufacturing Plc (Dodai), is a recently incorporated organization launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on August 01, 2023. Dodai is a fast growing organization with a mission of making urban e-mobility accessible to everyone in Africa through its innovative products and services. Dodai plans to provide brand new electric two wheelers by assembling them here in Addis Ababa and plans to expand to major regional cities in Ethiopia by the end of 2025. Job Summary:

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the mechanical systems of e-bikes, with a specific focus on frame-related repairs and structural integrity. The role requires strong welding skills to handle repairs involving metal frames and components, ensuring that all bikes are restored to safe, road-worthy condition.This role may include any other duties or responsibilities as assigned, based on evolving business needs. Flexibility and a proactive attitude are expected, especially in a dynamic and growing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Repairs & Maintenance

• Perform routine and corrective mechanical maintenance on e-bikes
• Repair or replace tires, brakes, chains, pedals, gear systems, and other mechanical parts
• Diagnose structural or alignment issues related to daily wear or accidents
• Conduct safety checks and test rides after repair

Welding & Structural Repairs

• Perform welding on frames, stands, carriers, or mounting points as needed
• Ensure welds meet strength, alignment, and finish standards
• Handle basic fabrication or reinforcement work when required
• Maintain proper use and safety of welding equipment

 Documentation & Reporting

• Accurately log all repairs, parts used, time taken, and repair status in the CRM or manual records
• Report recurring mechanical failures or safety risks to the supervisor
• Support quality control efforts by flagging potential design or production issues

 Team Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with the electrical technician to deliver holistic repairs
• Occasionally support customer-facing staff with technical explanations
• Assist in training junior technicians or apprentices as assigned
• Implement 5S principles in the factory and more particularly in the repair & maintenance and welding area
• Carry out additional tasks as instructed by supervisor 
  
  Qualifications & Requirements:
   
• Level 4 and above  in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in bicycle or motorcycle mechanical repair
• Proficiency in MIG or arc welding (formal training or certification preferred)
• Strong knowledge of brake systems, gear assemblies, and structural alignment
• Familiarity with workshop tools, safety procedures, and quality standards
• Ability to follow repair checklists and document work accurately
  
  Preferred Skills:
   
• Basic fabrication or frame modification experience
• Familiarity with e-bike components is a strong advantage
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Good attention to detail and time management
  
  Working Conditions:
   
• Workshop and occasional field-based work (on-site repairs)
• Regular use of PPE and workshop tools, including welding equipment
• May require extended hours during peak repair seasons
