The Agriculture Officer will play a key role in implementing high-quality agricultural interventions within the humanitarian response project in Guto Gida Woredas. The role involves coordination with government bodies, agricultural clusters, and other stakeholders, with a strong focus on planning, executing, and monitoring agricultural activities in the target woredas.

Location: Guto Gida Woreda, East Wellega Zone, Oromia Region

Duration: 11 months fixed-term contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, monitor, review, and evaluate agricultural activities
  • Supervise and support community facilitators
  • Develop monthly action plans and monitor progress against project goals
  • Coordinate the distribution of agricultural inputs, livestock vaccination campaigns, and other agricultural interventions. 
  • Facilitate beneficiary selection and verification
  • Organize review meetings and document best practices
  • Represent HEKS/EPER in field-level coordination platforms
  • Ensure reporting quality and timeliness
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at the woreda and kebele levels
  • Support the development of monitoring tools and project indicators
  • Adhere to accountability standards and ensure transparency
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager
  • BSc or MSc in Agriculture, Plant Science, Rural Development, Natural Resource Management, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in agriculture, livestock production, or food security projects
  • Field experience in emergency settings, preferably with NGOs on EHF projects
  • Familiarity with livelihoods, NRM, and livestock-based emergency interventions
  • Skilled in project cycle management, budgeting, and M&E
  • Experience working with IDPs, returnees, and conflict-affected communities
  • Experience in the East Wollega Zone is a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Fluent in English and Afaan Oromo (oral and written)
  • Technical writing and reporting expertise

  • Gender sensitivity and understanding of humanitarian principles
