Position Overview / Scope of Role

The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is a key C-suite executive who drives the financial vision, resilience, and transformation of OVID Holding. Overseeing the Group’s multi-sector portfolio—spanning real estate, construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, and smart city ventures—the CFO plays a central role in ensuring fiscal discipline, capital efficiency, compliance, and growth enablement. This role is instrumental in supporting strategic expansion, enhancing investor confidence, and enabling enterprise-wide execution through strong financial governance and performance analytics. The CFO is the financial architect behind Vision 2030 and ensures that OVID Holding is financially robust, investor-ready, and positioned for sustainable national and global growth.

Top Roles and Responsibilities

 

1. Financial Strategy & Capital Structuring

  • Develop and lead OVID’s long-term financial strategy aligned with enterprise growth, innovation, and transformation programs.

  • Optimize capital allocation across subsidiaries and major investments including REITs, joint ventures, and blended finance structures.

  • Ensure resilience in the Group’s capital structure and liquidity during different business cycles.

  • Oversee financial modeling and sensitivity analysis to support project viability and board decisions.

2. Financial Operations & Group-wide Control

  • Supervise core finance functions: accounting, treasury, audit, taxation, consolidation, and regulatory compliance.

  • Standardize financial reporting, policies, and internal controls across all OVID subsidiaries.

  • Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the board and regulatory bodies.

3. Performance Management & Profitability Oversight

  • Design and implement enterprise-wide financial dashboards, KPIs, and real-time reporting frameworks.

  • Drive operational efficiency through cost containment, overhead optimization, and working capital management.

  • Collaborate closely with the COO, CHR, CTO, and CCO to ensure financial discipline in operations, hiring, procurement, and sales functions.

  • Lead Group budgeting, reforecasting, and financial review sessions with business unit leaders.

4. Fundraising, Investment & Investor Relations

  • Lead debt and equity fundraising efforts through local and international financial markets, DFIs, and PE firms.

  • Structure innovative financing models (PPP, asset-backed securities, blended finance, bond issues, REITs, and capital injections) tailored to OVID’s strategic projects.

  • Manage institutional investor relationships and prepare investor decks, disclosures, and due diligence materials.

  • Support deal negotiation, term sheet evaluation, and capital structuring in joint ventures and capital partnerships.

5. Risk Management, Governance & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain a robust enterprise risk management (ERM) framework.

  • Lead external and internal audits, tax strategy, compliance audits, and reporting for Ethiopian and international regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure accurate IFRS-compliant financial reporting and risk-adjusted controls across all entities.

6. Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and lead a future-ready finance leadership team at both the Group and subsidiary levels.

  • Establish finance business partnering across departments (sales, engineering, HR, procurement, legal).

  • Promote ethics, transparency, financial literacy, and execution discipline across the finance ecosystem.

7. Strategic Projects & Transformation Initiatives

  • Serve as a senior executive contributor to enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, including ERP implementation, M&A evaluations, digital finance systems, and shared service development.

  • Provide strategic input on large-scale infrastructure programs, smart city initiatives, and flagship developments.

  • Support the execution and financial health of Vision 2030 and Project Phoenix.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Group CEO.

Key Interfaces & Collaboration

  • Internal: CEO, COO, CTO, CCO, CHR, PMO, Strategy, Audit Committee

  • External: Banks, Auditors, DFIs, Institutional Investors, Tax Authorities, Legal Advisors

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields (Required)

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MSc in Finance, or related field) is strongly preferred

  • CPA, ACCA, CFA or similar professional certification is highly desirable

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience

  • At least 7 years in a CFO or Group Financial Controller role within a large, multi-entity, or complex organization

  • Sector exposure to real estate, infrastructure, manufacturing, or construction is highly advantageous

  • Strong experience in capital raising, investor relations, IFRS, and corporate finance structuring
