Vita Green Impact Fund- VGIF 

Vita is Currently implementing a new Vita Green Impact Fund Program for creating safe and clean water access, alternative cooking energy and forestry through community led approach. It is implementing a new program in different regions which aims to greatly increase household adoption of fuel-efficient cook stoves by using a new Community-Led Total Stove (CLTS) approach with the goal of eliminating the use of traditional three-stone (Sost Gulicha) stoves by mobilizing 100% of households in the program area to adopt fuel-efficient stoves. This program is also aimed to provide safe and clean water by repairing a broken water points through Community-Lead Total Water approach.  This will contribute to the delivery of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on SDGs 3, 5, 6 and 7 relating to improved health and gender equality as well as access to water and energy to deliver climate mitigation outcomes. 

Job summary 

As a key part of the VGIP team in Ethiopia to provide assistance to the project team in support of Data Management, Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of Carbon activities. The high-caliber candidate selected for this position will provide support to development of data management and MRV system for carbon finance projects that can capture both operational and carbon related data in the most effective manner and provide timely/appropriate reports.

Terms of Employment

• One-year contract with high possibility of extension based on performance

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and maintenance of VGIP data management system. 

• Provide support on data management activities i.e. collecting, organizing, protecting, storing, Analyzing, and sharing of data.

• Works closely with data and MRV team to oversee the entire data processing operation in a way that ensures the accuracy and efficiency of data management system.

• Assist in the development of survey forms, templates and guidelines for data collection and analysis, if requested.

• Regularly perform data quality reviews and appropriately identify all issues as necessary.

• Ensure data availability and quality by regularly entering data into a computer database and performing detail data cleaning.

• Extract information from VGIP database to prepare a regular report for Vita management, Communication requirements, and other relevant stakeholders’ consumption. 

• Contribute to capacity building training, coaching, and assisting technical staff on data management, climate finance and voluntary carbon market methodology in general and Gold Standard requirements in particular. 

• Work closely with field staff on conducting surveys, monitoring, and any other field activities to complement gold standard requirement. May be required to undertake field trips to project sites.

• Perform other duties reasonably related to the position as directed by the supervisor.

Educational Qualification

• BSc degree /MSc degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems.

Required Skills and Experience

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in data management and MRV work.

• Experience with Microsoft Office Applications; especially highly skillful with Excel as a data processing tool to implement excel database functions with complex criteria.

• Skills and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

• Experience of using Kobo Toolbox to develop data collection templates and to manage data on the server.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Amharic and English.

• Passionate about field work.
