Full timePurpose of the Job:
To plan, coordinate, and oversee Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works for construction projects, Design coordination, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, technical compliance, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The MEP Engineer is a key contributor to the successful execution of building services infrastructure that meets project specifications, client expectations, and industry regulations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
MEP Design Review and Coordination
Review MEP design drawings, specifications, and BOQs for accuracy, constructability, and compliance of building project codes and standard.
Validate technical submittals, material samples, and shop drawings before implementation to confirm alignment with approved designs and specifications.
Site Execution and Supervision
Quality Control and Compliance
Document non-conformities and supervise corrective actions.
Planning and Scheduling
Prepare and update MEP work schedules aligned with overall project timelines.
Track material deliveries and manpower allocation to prevent delays.
Support procurement team in defining technical specifications for MEP items.
Cost and Resource Management
Monitor actual vs. planned resource utilization, identifying potential overruns.
Provide input to budget estimates and cost-saving strategies.
Validate MEP subcontractor invoices and variation orders.
Safety and Risk Management
Enforce MEP safety procedures and hazard mitigation protocols at work fronts.
Participate in safety audits and toolbox talks related to MEP activities.
Communication and Reporting
Prepare regular MEP progress reports and escalate critical issues.
Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders regarding MEP status and coordination.
Qualification and Experience:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electro-mechanical or related discipline.
Professional registration or certification is an asset (e.g., PMP, HVAC certification, etc.).
Experience
Typically, 8-10 years of relevant work experience under MEP is required, from these 4-5 years of relevant experience in Building Construction.
Experience managing construction projects, coordinating teams, and handling technical challenges is critical for career advancement.
Expertise:
Proficiency in MEP-related software (AutoCAD MEP, Revit, etc.).
Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, water supply/drainage, and fire protection systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with local building codes and international MEP standards.
Experience with green building practices or energy-efficient systems is a plus.
Skilled in preparing technical reports, coordinating drawings, and testing procedures.
