Job Title: Senior Technical Manager (Ethiopia)

Job Summary: 

We are seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Senior Technical Manager to oversee and guide the local technical team in Ethiopia as part of a nationwide IT solution program. This leadership position is integral to ensuring seamless operation, ongoing maintenance, and continuous improvement of mission-critical systems, working in close partnership with international teams and government stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Operations

• Manage and mentor the local technical team to provide daily maintenance and support for ongoing deployments.
• Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and maintain system uptime and performance.

Technical Expertise

• Act as the onsite subject matter expert for the delivered solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support during critical system deployments and upgrades. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex issues and implement robust solutions

Stakeholder Engagement

• Reporting to the Corporate Solution Head, serve as the primary liaison between the local team and overseas software development teams.
• Communicate effectively with senior government officials to ensure alignment of project goals and expectations.
• Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language for non-technical stakeholders.

Governance & Compliance

• Follow established change management and release management processes to ensure system stability.
• Ensure all systems comply with security standards and government regulations.

Continuous Improvement

• Drive technical improvements and innovation within the deployment program.

.           Identify and implement best practices to enhance system performance and scalability

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• With senior and longer proven experience managing large-scale government IT projects.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and container-based solutions. Including hands-on experience with Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, and RESTful Web Services.
• Familiarity with both on-premises and cloud-based deployment models.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in English and Amharic (spoken and written).
• Based in Addis Ababa or willing to relocate.
