About the ENABLE Project
The “Enabling environments for NCD risk reduction in Ethiopia” (ENABLE) project is funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe (Grant agreement ID: 101137232). ENABLE aims to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Ethiopia by reducing the life-long prevalence of major NCD risk factors among pregnant women through multi-level actions to promote healthy diets, physical activity and reduce exposure to air pollution in a clean and supportive urban environment. The ENABLE project is dedicated to the implementation of pragmatic and effective interventions for promoting healthy diets, physical activity and reduce exposure to air pollution within a health-promoting urban environment for pregnant women and their families from the antenatal care entry point, as well as from the community.
The project is coordinated by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), and the consortium is comprised of 9 more international and Ethiopian partners. From Ethiopia, Jimma University (JU), Haramaya University (HU) and Addis Continental Institute of Public Health (ACIPH), along with international partners from University of Oslo (UiO), Lund University (LU), Uppsala University (UU), Wageningen University (WU), Vital Strategies, and Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR). The project will take place in urban communities in four cities in Ethiopia: Addis Ababa, Adama, Harar, and Jimma.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, monitor, and update detailed project work plans, timelines, and activity schedules in collaboration with the Principal Investigators (PIs), work package (WP) lead , and project team.
- Coordinate and track the progress trial implementation and other project activities across different WPs to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Facilitate and document regular project team meetings, including preparing agendas, circulating relevant materials, and minutes.
- Identify potential operational challenges and risks, and proactively propose solutions to the project leadership.
- Serve as a primary liaison for day-to-day communication between the PIs and WPs lead.
- Support the organization and logistical arrangements for WPs.
- Facilitate effective information flow between field trial and WPs activities, and data management.
- Assist in preparing financial report and monitoring project expenditures in close collaboration with the finance team, and flag any discrepancies.
- Support logistical arrangements for project staff, consultants, and visitors, including travel, accommodation, and venue bookings.
- Support the implementation of the project's monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework, including tracking key performance indicators.
- Assist in the preparation of regular progress reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) .
- Contribute to the compilation and synthesis of research findings for various reporting formats.
- Ensure data collection processes are aligned with reporting requirements.
- Support the organization of training and workshops
- Assist in the preparation of research output such as policy briefs, and manuscripts.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Master's degree in Public Health (MD, MPH), PhD Health Sciences.
- Experience: Proven experience in project coordination within health and nutrition research or NCD programs in Ethiopia. Familiarity with the Ethiopian health system is highly desirable. Experience in clinical trial is advantageous.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic (or other relevant local languages).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
