BACKGROUND

Cheshire Ethiopia, Registration No.0505 is an Ethiopian residence and leading disability rehabilitation organization operating in the country since 1962 with the objective of enabling person with disabilities to take part in the life of their societies through provision of combined and coordinated comprehensive rehabilitation service. the *Modelling Accountability and Effective Instruction Programme (MAEIP)* to improve foundational learning outcomes for children with disabilities across South Ethiopia Regional State (SERS) and Southwest Ethiopia Peoples' Regional State (SWEPRS) to be implemented from July 2025 to July 2027.  This initiative targets underserved communities in Segen Zuria, Bena Tsemay, Dasenech/Kuraz, Bero, and Menit Shasha Woredas.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management

  • Develop and implement community-based rehabilitation programs in alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Ensure that rehabilitation services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with government, healthcare professionals, CBR workers, targeted schools and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive support.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support a team of rehabilitation workers, therapists, and volunteers.
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to project staffs and partner school enhance their skills and knowledge.
  •  Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for improvement.

Community Engagement

  • Foster relationships with community members, local organizations, and government bodies to promote awareness and acceptance of rehabilitation services.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities within the community.
  • Organize community events and workshops to educate stakeholders about rehabilitation practices.
  • Conduct back-to-learning campaigns and coordinate children with disabilities school enrolment and attendance.

Assessment and Planning

  • Conduct assessments of individuals with disabilities to identify their needs and develop personalized rehabilitation plans.
  • Collaborate with families and caregivers to ensure that rehabilitation goals are understood and supported.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  •  Establish monitoring systems to track the progress of rehabilitation programs and individual clients.
  •  Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of services and make necessary adjustments.
  •  Prepare reports on program outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Develops human interest stories and submits to the immediate supervisor

Resource Management

  • Identify resource needs for the rehabilitation program, including materials, equipment, and funding.
  • Manage budgets effectively to ensure that resources are utilized efficiently.

 Policy Implementation

  •  Ensure that rehabilitation services comply with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in the field.
  •  Stay updated on policies related to disability rights and community health.

 Capacity Building

  •   Promote community involvement in rehabilitation efforts by training community members to assist in service delivery.
  •  Encourage self-advocacy among individuals with disabilities and their families.

Crisis Intervention

  •    Address emergencies or crises that may arise within the community or among clients receiving rehabilitation services.
  •   Provide immediate support and coordinate with relevant agencies for further assistance.

Networking and Collaboration

  •  Build partnerships with other organizations, healthcare providers, and educational institutions to enhance service delivery.
  •  Participate in local, regional, or national forums related to disability and rehabilitation.

Qualifications

  • BA Degree in Special needs education, Social work, Sociology, Social administration, Public health, Community development or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in similar position/field.
  • Strong competencies in social and communication skills
  • Good report writing and analytical skills.
