Main Duties and Responsibilities

Automotive Tender Management Manager is responsible for the entire tender process, from identifying opportunities to contract award. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills, combined with a deep understanding of the automotive industry and tender processes. The Manager will lead a team and collaborate cross-functionally to develop winning tender proposals that meet customer requirements and maximize profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tender Document Preparation: Lead the preparation of comprehensive and compliant tender documents; including technical specifications, pricing proposals, and commercial terms, ensuring alignment with company strategy and customer requirements.

  • Bid Search & Collection: Proactively identify and evaluate potential tender opportunities through market research, industry publications, and networking. Manage the collection and analysis of tender documentation.

  • Market Surveillance & Intelligence: Conduct ongoing market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, anticipate customer needs, and inform tender strategy. Maintain a database of competitors information and tender outcomes.

  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and potential organizations. Engage with clients to understand their needs, influence bid specifications to favour our products/solutions, and negotiate favorable contract terms.

  • Cost Build-Up & Pricing: Develop accurate cost build-ups for both direct sales and tender sales, considering all relevant factors (e.g., materials, labor, logistics, overhead). Establish competitive pricing strategies that maximize profitability while meeting customer budget requirements.

  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tender specialists and support staff. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including the Auto Market & Sales Department, Cost & Budget division, Legal, and other relevant organs to ensure seamless tender execution.

  • Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks associated with each tender opportunity and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Contract Negotiation: Participate in contract negotiations with clients to finalize terms and conditions, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Performance Reporting: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to tender success rates, win rate, profitability, and cycle time. Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and optimize the tender process.

  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve the tender management process, incorporating best practices and lessons learned.

  • Tender Management Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of tender processes, regulations, and best practices.

  • Negotiation & Influencing Skills: Ability to effectively negotiate with clients and influence bid specifications.

  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of cost accounting, pricing strategies, and financial analysis.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop effective solutions.

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

  • Leadership & Team Management Skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.

  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Market Awareness: Strong understanding of the automotive market, competitive landscape, and industry trends.

  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CRM software.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential. Additional languages are a plus.

Required Specifications & Competencies:

Education:

  • Masters/Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Automotive, Mechanical, or related field), Business Administration, Marketing or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8/10 years of experience in tender management, sales, or business development within the automotive industry.

  • Proven track record of successfully winning tenders and negotiating contracts.

  • Experience leading and managing teams.

  • Strong understanding of automotive products, technologies, and market dynamics.
