Summary

The Senior Automotive After Sales Cost Estimator is responsible for accurately assessing vehicle damage, preparing detailed parts and accessory specifications, and estimating the cost of repairs. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, experience, and the ability to work independently.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Damage Assessment: Thoroughly examines damaged vehicles to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical, electrical, or interior damage.

  • Cost Estimation: Estimates the cost of labor, parts, and accessories required to repair or replace each damaged item, using established methodologies and tools.

  • Parts & Accessory Specification: Prepares detailed and accurate parts and accessory specifications for each repair job, ensuring compatibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Repair Cost Review: Reviews repair cost estimates with body shop managers or foremen, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.

  • Dispute Resolution: Resolves discrepancies in cost estimates with repair providers, potentially through independent appraisals.

  • Repair vs. Replacement Analysis: Determines the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of repair versus replacement of parts and accessories.

  • Repair vs. Market Value Evaluation: Evaluates the practicality of repair versus paying the vehicle's market value, considering cost and customer preferences.

  • Salvage Value Determination: Determines the salvage value of total vehicle losses.

  • Insurance Form Preparation: Prepares insurance forms with accurate cost estimates, repair recommendations, and detailed parts specifications.

  • Customization Cost Estimation: Estimates the cost of repainting, converting, or customizing vehicles, including parts and accessory requirements.

  • Mentoring: Mentors and provides guidance to junior cost estimators.

Job Specification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive damage assessment and cost estimation. (Increased experience expectation)

  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle repair procedures, parts, accessories, and industry best practices.

  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools, as well as parts cataloging systems.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
