Summary:

The Manager - After Sales Cost Estimation is responsible for leading and managing the cost estimation team, ensuring accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimations for vehicle repairs and related services, including parts and accessory specifications. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, process optimization, collaboration with key stakeholders, and driving profitability and customer satisfaction within the after-sales function.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management:

    • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the After Sales Cost Estimation team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

    • Set team goals, objectives, and KPIs (e.g., estimation accuracy, turnaround time, cost savings), and monitor performance against targets.

    • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, identify training needs, and create development plans for team members.

    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and results-oriented team environment.

    • Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands, deadlines, and budget constraints.

    • Manage team workload and ensure equitable distribution of tasks.

  • Cost Estimation Oversight:

    • Oversee the entire cost estimation process, ensuring accuracy, consistency, competitiveness, and adherence to company standards.

    • Develop, implement, and maintain cost estimation methodologies, best practices, and quality control measures.

    • Regularly review and update cost estimation models, tools, and databases (including parts and labor rates) to reflect market conditions, industry standards, and new technologies.

    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to cost estimation, parts procurement, and accessory specification.

  • Parts & Accessory Specification:

    • Oversee the preparation of accurate and detailed parts and accessory specifications for repair jobs, ensuring compatibility and quality.

    • Develop and maintain a database of approved parts and accessories, including technical specifications, pricing, and supplier information.

    • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of specified parts and accessories.

  • Technical Expertise & Guidance:

    • Maintain a strong understanding of vehicle repair procedures, parts pricing, labor rates, and accessory options.

    • Provide technical guidance and support to the cost estimation team on complex repairs and specialized parts.

    • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, new technologies, repair techniques, and accessory innovations.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Collaborate closely with the Automotive Business Unit Manager, body shop managers, foremen, insurance companies, customers, and other relevant stakeholders.

    • Communicate cost estimates effectively to internal and external parties, ensuring transparency and clarity.

    • Negotiate with repair providers and insurers to achieve optimal cost outcomes while maintaining customer satisfaction.

  • Dispute Resolution:

    • Oversee the resolution of any discrepancies or disputes related to cost estimates or parts specifications.

    • Arrange for independent appraisals when necessary to ensure fair and accurate cost assessments.

  • Strategic Planning & Analysis:

    • Contribute to the development of the overall after-sales strategy, focusing on cost optimization and efficiency.

    • Analyze cost data, identify trends, and develop recommendations for cost reduction and process improvement.

    • Prepare regular reports on cost estimation performance, key metrics (e.g., estimation accuracy, cost savings, turnaround time), and market trends.

  • Other Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Automotive Business Unit Manager.

  • Master's/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of extensive experience in automotive damage assessment and cost estimation, with a proven track record of success. (Increased experience expectation)

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate a team.

  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle repair procedures, parts, and labor, including familiarity with different makes and models.

  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools, as well as parts cataloging systems.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
