ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), re-established by proclamation No. 1133/2011, is the constitutionally mandated body to conduct elections, organize referendum and regulate political parties in Ethiopia. NEBE is working to boost its’ institutional strength with a special focus on enhancement of human resource capacity. Accordingly, NEBE would like to invite applicants for System Administrator position who meet the following requirements.

Duty station: NEBE Head Quarter, Addis Ababa
Duration: Contract (One year with the possibility of extension)

Job Summary
The System Administrator will be responsible for managing servers, virtualization, cloud services, and automation tools to optimize performance, security, and scalability. We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud and System Administrator to design, deploy, and maintain our hybrid infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises systems and cloud platforms.
Duties and responsibilities
- Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Deploy, configure, and maintain public/private cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OpenStack).
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Manage containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes) in cloud environments.
- On-Premises System Administration
- Administer Linux/Windows servers, including installation, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
- Oversee storage solutions (SAN/NAS) and backup/recovery strategies.
- Networking & Security
- Configure and troubleshoot VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, and DNS.
- Ensure cloud and on-prem security (IAM, encryption, intrusion detection).
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and compliance audits.
- Automation & Monitoring
- Automate repetitive tasks using Bash, Python, or PowerShell scripts.
- Set up monitoring/alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix).
- Optimize CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments.
- Hybrid Cloud Integration
- Design and maintain hybrid cloud architectures (AWS Outposts, Azure Stack).
- Ensure seamless data synchronization between cloud and on-prem systems.
Education and Work Experience:
- BSC degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or any related field
- 3 years related experience.
Technical Skills
- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- OS Expertise: Proficient in Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) and Windows Server.
- Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.
- Networking: TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, SDN.
- Automation:Terraform,Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Scripting:Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
Certifications (Preferred)
- AWS/Azure/GCP certifications (e.g., AWS SysOps, Azure Administrator).
- Linux/VMware certifications (RHCE, VCP).
- Security certifications (e.g., CC, CISSP, CCSP).
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multi-cloud strategies.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD, GitOps).
- Familiarity with disaster recovery (DR) planning.
