Introduction 

The World Bank (WB) has been a key partner in supporting the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) technically and financially in addressing various public health challenges. To enhance the impact and effectiveness of our communication strategies, EPHI aims to recruit specialized technical assistance (TA) in graphic design under the WB, covid-19 project. This initiative will focus on creating visually compelling materials that effectively convey critical health information to diverse audiences. Recognizing the importance of clear and engaging visual communication in public health initiatives, the recruitment of graphic design TAs will play a vital role in strengthening our outreach efforts. This recruitment of graphic design TAs, aimed at enhancing EPHI’s capacity to inform and engage communities during public health campaigns and routine health behavior change activities.

Title of the position- Graphic Designer (EPHI)

Position location – Addis Ababa

Reports to: Early warning and risk communication division executive lead

Contract term: 6 months -full time position, with possibility of extension.

Required number: 1

Salary: Based on MOFEC scale

    Job description

• Collaborate and work with Regional Health Bureaus (Public Relations, Health education and promotion team) and regional public health institution.
  • Utilize animation tools or methods to finalize animation projects accordance with the branding manual
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of animated design
  • Conceptualizing visuals based on requirements
  • Creating images and layouts by hand or using design software
  • Participate in briefing meetings regarding the materials content with communications team of COVID 19 Emergency Operations Center  EOC
  • Submit details implementation plan schedule; 
  • Prepare rough drafts and present ideas.
  • Meet with team to review and discuss draft designs and amend designs based on  feedbacks
  • Incorporate comments and finalize the designs. 
  • Provide both editable and finalized versions of the designs.
  • Work on other graphic related assignments given by supervisor during the contract period 

Education Level

• Bachelor’s  degree or masters in Design, Fine Arts, information technology, architecture or any related fields certification  in graphic design.  

Work experience 

• A Minimum of 6 years and above for BSC and 4 years & above for master’s degree holders.  

  • Trained and experienced in Graphics design. 

  •    Experience in graphic design for health related materials especially COVID-19 is an advantage. 

Skills

• Understanding  the best practices for major social media channels including Facebook, Instagram , twitter
  • Strong communication skills; able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of communications & public relations.
  • Ability to think strategically and identify ways to improve communication efforts
  • Must be resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction.

Note: The intended graphic designer needs to use his/her own computers and digital tablets.
