Position: Education Program Officer
Project: STEP Project – Oromia Regional Program
Reports to: Regional Program Manager
Duty Stations and Number of Positions
- Kelem Wolegga Zone – Gawo Kabe and Anfilo Woredas (2 positions)
- West Guji Zone – Hambalala Wamned and Galana Woredas (2 positions)
- North Shoa Zone – Wara Jarso and Yaya Gulele Woredas (2 positions)
Duration: Six (6) months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funds.
Salary: As per the organization’s scale.
Position Summary
Imagine 1day is seeking qualified and motivated professionals for the position of Education Program Officer under the STEP Project in the Oromia Regional Program. The Education Program Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting education program activities in the assigned project areas, while working closely with local stakeholders and communities to improve access to and quality of education.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Support
- Support the rollout of Imagine1day’s education projects in target schools and communities.
- Work with the Education Program Manager to develop detailed activity plans and budgets for education programs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to improve learning outcomes, teacher capacity, school leadership, and inclusive education.
- Provide technical support and training to teachers and school leaders on pedagogical methods, curriculum implementation, and child-centered learning.
- Facilitate school improvement planning and support school communities in setting education goals.
- Promote gender equality, inclusive education, and child protection within all educational activities.
Capacity Building
- Organize and deliver training workshops, refresher courses, and on-site coaching for teachers and education personnel.
- Mentor teachers on effective classroom management, lesson planning, and assessment methods.
- Build the capacity of school management committees and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in school governance and resource mobilization.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor program activities and progress in target schools through regular field visits and reporting.
- Collect and analyze data on school attendance, teacher performance, learning outcomes, and infrastructure improvements.
- Support the design and administration of baseline and endline surveys, needs assessments, and evaluations.
- Prepare accurate and timely progress reports for internal and donor use.
Community Engagement
- Engage communities and stakeholders to ensure local ownership and sustainability of education initiatives.
- Support awareness campaigns on the importance of education, especially for girls and marginalized children.
- Facilitate dialogue between schools, communities, and local education authorities to improve school accountability and responsiveness.
Partnership and Coordination
- Liaise with local education offices and regional authorities to align project activities with government priorities.
- Represent Imagine1day in relevant education sector forums, working groups, and stakeholder meetings.
- Collaborate with other NGOs, community-based organizations, and implementing partners to enhance project effectiveness.
Administrative and Logistical Duties
- Maintain proper documentation of project activities, training sessions, and field visits.
- Assist in procurement planning for education materials and training supplies.
- Ensure adherence to Imagine1day’s financial and operational procedures in all program activities.

A/ EDUCATION/TRAINING
- Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Pedagogy, Educational Planning & Management, or a related field.
B/ EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in education program implementation, preferably in NGOs.
- Knowledge and experience in Education in emergency projects and child protection in both emergency and development Contexts.
C/ TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Experience in undertaking Educational and Child protection projects in an emergency context and enhancing the capacity if partners at the local level.
- Using Project cycle management and Project management tools and techniques
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, both beneficiaries and partners.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and local language
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Flexible, with the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet skills.
