Job Purpose:
The Pharmacy Technician supports the overall integrated clinical service in KP, in combination with HIV prevention activities, and supports other packages like HTS Yield maximization activities into the overall combination prevention, test, and treatment activities. The Pharmacy Technician reports primarily to the DIC coordinator and other top-line managers of BPDO when the need arises.
Main duties & Responsibilities:
- Synergizes the team roles and responsibilities of the specific DIC and BPDO at large,
- Pays maximum attention and effort in maximizing the HTS yield in the DIC,
- Dispenses prescribed drug after provision of counseling,
- Counsels on ART adherence and toxicity,
- Follows stock availability and requests timely for PFSA, and/or BPDO head office program team.
- Assists in the preparation of standard specifications and codes for all major categories of medical equipment and supplies.
- Receives materials (drugs and medical supplies) incoming from the Support Office, donors, or directly from the Pharmaceuticals Funds Supply Agency (PFSA) and ensures the preparation of the goods receiving note.
- Organizes the arrangement of items in proper location, shelf-code, batch number, and group for easy retrieval when needed.
- Implements appropriate automatic stock movement control systems to monitor stock levels, unit costs, minimum levels, reorder times, and other relevant data.
- Prepares and submits stock reports as required and as per the organization’s rules and regulations.
- Ensures that drugs and other medical supplies are utilized before their expiry dates and Issues medical supplies and equipment on First Expire First Out (FEFO) basis
- Prepares purchase requisitions to replenish materials on time to avoid stockouts.
- Develops systems for forecasting of drugs and medical supplies needed according to the consumption of the center and the anticipated increase of clients in the coming year
- Provides technical information on pharmaceutical issues related to drug use and interactions, side effects, and drug substitution, to staff
- Promotes the rational use of drugs.
- Proposes disposal of damaged, obsolete, expired drugs and supplies, and facilitates the disposal process with relevant government authorities.
- Liaises with procurement regarding drug and medical supplies orders, buffer stocks, and distribution to the field sites/clinics on time
- Performs related tasks as required
- Use and update the BIN card & Stok card,
- Documents on ART and OI register during dispensary,
- Prepares patient information sheet for each patient taking ART and updates regularly,
- Prepares and submits reports by respecting the due dates,
- Responsible for other activities ordered by the GP and other top-level managers of BPDO.
- Track Pharmacy dispensing register & communicate with health care providers about missed appointment clients.

Person specification:
- Diploma & above in Pharmacy
- Minimum 4 (Four) years of experience in similar positions
- Working with National or International NGOs is advantageous
- Work as a team player and have flexibility in his/her work
- He/she can work independently and innovatively to develop and implement supervision and training activities that help expand community participation
- Experience working in humanitarian emergency settings is an asset
