The post holder is responsible for the deliveries of results in line with pre-agreed program planes and objectives and oversee the implementation of the child protection policy in the PA and contribute towards achieving the country program goal of improved protection mechanisms and community practices against harmful traditional practices and violence against children. Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) 

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Program Participant and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

Qualifications/ Experience/Skills Essential:

  • BA degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Development studies and other related fields. 

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of humanitarian aid experience applied in emergency/recovery response operations in focus on child protection and youth program 
  • excellent knowledge of Community Based Protection and basic principles; 
  • Good knowledge of community based and Right based approach, Protection case management and MHPSS
  • Excellent knowledge of basic Community Based Protection and human right principles and child & adult development and learning
  • Good knowledge of donor grants and contract regulations.

 Desirable

  • Ability to deliver quality programs in a desirable time and work under stressful conditions. 
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and independently. 
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills in English and Amharic. 
  • Computer literate.
  • Good interpersonal skills. 
  • Gender sensitive.
  • Proposal and report writing skills.

  • Analytical and strategic thinking
