Position Overview/Scope of role:
The Chief Road Technology Officer (CRTO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for shaping and executing Ovid Road Works’ technology vision to support strategic growth, operational excellence, and financial sustainability. The (CRTO) will spearhead innovation, digital transformation, and technology integration to enhance the company’s competitiveness and attain new projects in road construction, infrastructure development, and financing partnerships. This includes leveraging technology in support of the company’s collaboration with Africa Capital Partners (ACP) for bank loans, performance bonds, and advance payment guarantees. The (CRTO) is expected to be energetic and passionate to look for and apply new technology
Top Roles and Responsibilities:
1Strategic Technology Leadership
Develop and execute a long-term technology strategy aligned with Ovid Road Works’ business development, financing, and project delivery goals.
Integrate technology solutions to enhance project execution, compliance with lenders and insurers’ requirements, and transparency in financial management.
Collaborate with the CEO, CFO, and ACP representatives to ensure technology systems support funding and guarantee arrangements.
Identify and adopt construction technologies such as GPS-guided equipment, drones, and AI-based project monitoring.
2. Research, Innovation, and Development (R&D)
Lead R&D initiatives to adopt emerging technologies in road construction and financial reporting systems.
Explore digital platforms for project documentation, loan tracking, and guarantee management to support partnerships with banks and insurance companies.
Foster a company-wide culture of technological innovation and continuous improvement.
Maintain awareness of industry trends, digital construction methods, and relevant financial technology (FinTech) applications.
3. IT and Infrastructure Management
Oversee the company’s IT systems, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance with lender, investor, and insurer requirements.
Implement and maintain digital platforms for project tracking, reporting, and secure document exchange with financial institutions.
Manage IT vendor relationships, contracts, and service quality.
Enforce cyber security and data protection protocols, particularly for sensitive financial and project data.
4. Data Management and Analytics
Implement robust systems for collecting, analyzing, and reporting construction and financial data.
Provide analytics-driven insights for project efficiency, cost optimization, and financing decision-making.
Develop dashboards for real-time monitoring of project progress, financial status, and guarantee obligations.
5. Data Management and Innovation & R&D
Digital Transformation: Lead the digital transformation of the company’s operations, from project design and planning to on-site execution and maintenance. Oversee the implementation of digital tools for project management, data analytics, and real-time progress tracking.
Innovation & R&D: Drive research and development initiatives focused on applying technologies like autonomous construction equipment, drones for surveying and monitoring, 3D printing for components, and smart infrastructure solutions (e.g., self-healing concrete, temperature-sensitive pavement).
6. Team Leadership and Management
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing technology team, including IT specialists, systems engineers, and data analysts.
Ensure the technical team aligns with Ovid Road Works’ strategic, operational, and financing objectives.
Oversee training programs to enhance staff proficiency in digital tools and construction technologies.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Construction Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
Master’s degree or MBA preferred, with specialization in technology management or construction engineering.
minimum of 15 years of experience with minimum of 7 years of managerial experience
Skills:
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Deep technical knowledge in IT systems, emerging construction technologies, and digital finance platforms.
Excellent communication skills for interfacing with technical teams, executives, and external partners.
Proven budget management and vendor negotiation abilities.
