About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting field research operations, managing and analyzing data, contributing to proposal development, and disseminating research findings. This role requires strong research skills, hands-on experience with digital data collection tools, and a passion for working with rural communities to generate impactful insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Support primary data collection, including enumerator training, field coordination, and supervision.
Organize and manage fieldwork logistics, ensuring smooth implementation of activities in diverse field settings.
Implement field quality control assurance measures, such as back checks, spot checks, and high-frequency data checks using Stata or R.
Contribute to the preparation of funding proposals, project reports, and internal documentation.
Develop and implement new research ideas and projects in collaboration with the team.
Manage datasets, ensuring proper data management, cleaning, and analysis for ongoing research projects.
Lead and support digital data collection, with hands-on use of tools such as SurveyCTO.
Draft survey instruments and focus group discussion guides when structure and concepts are provided.
Assist in survey creation, piloting, and implementation, ensuring quality and reliability.
Conduct literature reviews and desk research aligned with project needs.
Contribute to internal and external communications to disseminate research findings.
Support partner relations and coordinate with external stakeholders for smooth field operations.
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Agricultural economics, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in enumerator training, field research coordination, and quality control checks (back checks, spot checks, high-frequency checks).
Proficiency with digital survey tools (SurveyCTO preferred).
Strong data management and statistical analysis skills (Stata, R, or Python).
Experience in fieldwork logistics organization and ability to work effectively in remote areas.
Willingness to engage with farm households and rural communities.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
