Position Summary

The Maintenance Head is responsible for overseeing the overall maintenance and repair operations of the resort, ensuring that all facilities, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure are functioning efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to manage a diverse team to support smooth resort operations and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and supervise maintenance staff (technicians, electricians, plumbers, gardeners, etc.).
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure timely completion of work orders.
  • Promote teamwork and adherence to resort service standards.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for all resort facilities.
  • Handle repair requests for guest rooms, public areas, pools, spa, gym, kitchen, laundry, and other resort facilities.
  • Minimize downtime of critical systems (power, water, HVAC, etc.).
  • Maintain and oversee the operation of generators, HVAC systems, water pumps, boilers, laundry machines, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure proper functioning of firefighting systems, safety equipment, and utilities.
  • Keep updated records of equipment servicing and repairs.
  • Prepare and monitor the maintenance budget.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
  • Provide reports on maintenance activities and costs to the General Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards and fix them promptly.
  • Implement sustainable practices for energy and water management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical, or related technical field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in maintenance/engineering within the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Hands-on skills in maintaining kitchen equipment, laundry machines, and generators.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage emergencies effectively
  • Good communication skills in English (Amharic is an advantage).
