  Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tender Specialist (Office Engineer) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading bid and tender applications, designing solar systems, preparing technical documentation, and supporting grant applications. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work within strict deadlines. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in securing new projects and ensuring their successful implementation according to engineering and compliance standards.   

Key Responsibilities :-

  Bid & Tender Management (60% of role)

• Lead technical proposals for government, NGO, and private sector tenders
• Complete 10+ quarterly bids (1.5M-50M ETB)
• Conduct site assessments and develop technical specifications
• Analyze requirements and create competitive solutions
• Coordinate with suppliers for accurate quotations
• Prepare bid defense presentations and ensure timely submissions
• Deliver high-quality proposals with detailed methodologies and precise documentation
• Ensure alignment with client requirements and industry standards
• Track bid status, maintain bid database, and report on conversion rates

  Solar System Design

• Design grid-tied, off-grid, and hybrid solar systems
• Perform energy load calculations and system sizing
• Design backup generator integration systems
• Create electrical diagrams and system schematics
• Ensure compliance with EPC standards
• Optimize solar plants including standalone systems and energy storage solutions
• Conduct electrical calculations for optimal performance
• Prepare technical drawings using AutoCAD
• Analyze and improve existing electrical systems

  Technical Documentation

• Prepare comprehensive specifications for solar systems
• Develop operation and maintenance manuals
• Create as-built documentation
• Maintain detailed records of designs and documentation
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements

  Grant & Client Support (Business Development and Sales Department)

• Provide technical inputs for grant applications
• Develop technical components including specifications and impact assessments
• Create budgets and timelines for grant-funded projects
• Support grant reporting and compliance documentation
• Assist Sales with technical presentations to customers
• Translate complex information for non-technical stakeholders
• Develop technical marketing materials
• Provide advisory services on project development
• Evaluate contractor proposals and support negotiations
• Ensure compliance with industry standards throughout implementation

Project Implementation Support (Business Development and Sales Department)

• Monitor technical aspects of project implementation
• Provide on-site technical guidance and troubleshooting
• Coordinate with installation teams to ensure design compliance
• Perform quality checks during key installation phases
• Prepare technical reports on implementation progress
• Resolve technical issues that arise during installation

  Qualifications

Education & Experience 

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in solar PV system design and implementation
• Proven experience with bid/tender preparation for renewable energy projects
• Experience with backup generator integration and hybrid power systems
• Background in technical documentation preparation

  Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of solar PV system design principles and standards
• Proficiency in solar design software (PVsyst, HOMER, AutoCAD, or similar)
• Understanding of electrical engineering principles and Ethiopian electrical codes
• Experience with energy load calculations and system sizing
• Excellent technical writing skills for proposals and documentation
• Strong project management and organizational abilities
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines
• Fluency in English required; knowledge of Amharic highly desirable

  Preferred Skills

• Professional certifications in renewable energy or solar design
• Experience with grant-funded renewable energy projects
• Knowledge of Ethiopian energy sector and regulatory environment
• Experience with international technical standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.)
• Familiarity with procurement processes for renewable energy components
