Full timeThe Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing construction materials, equipment, and services to support projects efficiently. This role ensures cost-effective procurement, timely delivery, compliance with policies and regulations, and strong vendor relationships while collaborating with internal departments and site teams.
Conduct market research to identify trends, alternative products, and cost-saving opportunities.
Assist in forecasting material needs for ongoing and upcoming construction projects.
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational and project goals.
Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure cost-effective and high-quality products and services.
Maintain a supplier/vendor database and evaluate performance on price, quality, reliability, and delivery.
Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Follow up with suppliers to track delivery schedules, inspect goods upon arrival, and resolve delays or quality issues.
Prepare and process purchase orders, requisitions, and other procurement documents in line with project requirements and company policies.
Ensure all procured items meet project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and reports.
Support audits by providing procurement-related documentation when required.
Collaborate with internal departments, site managers, and storekeepers to determine procurement needs and specifications.
Work with finance to ensure timely payments, budget tracking, and cost control.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, company procedures, safety regulations, and relevant legal requirements.
Promote sustainable and ethical procurement practices throughout the procurement process.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and recommend alternative sourcing strategies.
Monitor budgets and expenditures related to procurement activities.
Education: BA degree or diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or Business Administration.
Experience: 2–4 years in procurement, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or industrial projects.
Skills:
Strategic sourcing, Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and procurement processes.
Analytical, detail-oriented, and cost-conscious.
Ability to coordinate across departments and work under pressure.
Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP or procurement software is a plus.
Knowledge of Ethiopian construction regulations and safety standards is an advantage.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
