We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Insurance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will serve as an internal advisor on insurance-related matters, ensuring the company’s assets, operations, and personnel are adequately protected. This role requires strong expertise in various types of insurance policies and the ability to support management in selecting and managing appropriate coverage.
Position Summary
The Insurance Officer will play a key role in managing the company’s insurance portfolio, ensuring adequate coverage, timely renewals, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The position involves evaluating risk exposures, coordinating with insurers and internal departments, processing claims, and supporting continuous improvement in insurance-related procedures and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Rigorously scrutinize and validate all insurance policies before purchase, ensuring the terms, conditions, and coverage limits align precisely with identified corporate risks while guaranteeing optimal cost-effectiveness and financial prudence.
- Identify, assess, and quantify key enterprise risks, recommending appropriate risk transfer and insurance solutions.
- Advise senior management on strategic policy selection, focusing on cost-efficiency, coverage adequacy, and regulatory compliance.
- Support the development of internal risk management best practices and governance.
- Manage the full policy lifecycle for all corporate insurance types handling policy entry, review, renewal, and payment settlement.
- Coordinate with insurance providers and brokers to obtain competitive quotations, negotiate optimal terms, and secure favorable premium rates.
- Ensure timely renewal of all insurance policies and coordinate with the Finance Department to facilitate timely premium payments.
- Serve as the primary internal and external contact for all insurance-related activities and advice.
- Oversee the end-to-end process of all insurance-related incidents and accidents across the Company.
- Process and handle claims efficiently across various corporate insurance categories, ensuring timely documentation and resolution through liaison with relevant departments and insurers.
- Track, monitor, and report on claim status, settlements, and outstanding issues to senior leadership.
- Maintain a comprehensive and accurate insurance database and documentation, ensuring alignment with financial records for audit purposes.
- Provide guidance to departments on insurance-related matters and risk mitigation best practices.
- Stay updated on changes in insurance regulations, market trends, and industry best practices.
- Perform other administrative and insurance-related duties as assigned by the Immediate Supervisor.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Finance, Law, Accounting, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated work experience in the corporate insurance sector.
- Proven expertise managing diverse corporate insurance policies.
- Proven experience in import/export industries, coupled with direct experience in private sector insurance advisory.
- Deep and demonstrable knowledge of different types of insurance policies and their relevance to corporate risk is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of insurance principles, risk transfer solutions, and complex claims processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and work effectively under pressure of deadlines.
