Purpose of the Job: 

The position holder is expected to perform a variety of laboratory tests on raw and treated wastewater to make sure that the standards of EPA are fulfilled. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine chemical and physical analysis of wastewater in various stages of treatment to ensure that environmental standards are met.

• Participate in the collection of water samples of plant influent at various stages of treatment and of plant effluent.

• Prepare solutions, reagents, equipment, apparatus and accessories and other supplies needed at the lab.

• Conduct monthly inventory of chemicals, reagents, solutions, and other supplies and equipment essential to laboratory operation.

• Clean, calibrate, and maintain equipment and apparatus used in all tests and analysis.

• Prepare and maintain technical reports on results of analyses conducted.

• Maintain accurate files; enter test results into the computer and generate necessary reports.

• Perform quality control and quality assurance tests and maintain quality control procedures in the laboratory. 

• Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures as well as national laws, rules, and regulations.

• Provide lab training to plant personnel on proper lab methods, procedures, and techniques.

• Performs mathematical calculations from raw laboratory data; logs results and maintains accurate records of all tests to facilitate preparation of various wastewater treatment reports.

• Resolves day-to-day questions/problems from treatment plant operators regarding appropriate materials, methods, and procedures to be used. 

• Performs related duties as assigned.

Education:

• BSC Degree in Chemistry or Biology or related fields

Experience:

• 2 Years of work experience Wastewater Treatment or in related activities.
