Duties and responsibilities
Plan, organize and implement import strategy and activities;
Monitor the issuing of all import documents and daily running processes;
Maintain high level of accuracy concerning banking operation and customs procedures;
Liaise with suppliers and concerning government offices;
Keep accurate records regarding shipping schedules, LC, declaration, bill of loading, commercial invoices and the likes;
Should have full knowledge of Import/Export procedures;
The candidate must have full knowledge of Ethiopian Customs rules and procedures;
Monitoring the import process from Loading country to destination, including all documentation and dealing with forwarder;
Responsible to monitor and maintain relationship with all ocean, air, and consolidator /booking agents to ensure accountability and proactive handling of the supply chain;
Responsible and accountable for advanced planning of logistics provider capacity and volume forecasting to protect on–time shipping.
Control all products/materials importing record update on voucher book, cross check draft documents from supplier before shipment;
Ensure timely processing of shipments, customs clearance and storing/Delivering of documents;
Prepare and audit import documentation for vessel shipments and settlements;
Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies;
Maintain records of goods ordered and received in purchasing system;
Follow-up purchasing order status, delivery schedule and shipping document;
Prepare all import, customs, banking, shipping, and other relevant documents;
Communicate with shipping agent & forwarding agent for clearance;
Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers;
Liaise with different customers, government departments, agents, forwarders, and other stakeholders effectively,
Provide timely reports to the line manager;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirement:
Ability to use single window system application;
Energetic and able to maintain a very high level of attention to details;
Creative to generate new ideas;
Excellent planning and organizing skills;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in email and telephone conversations;
Knowledge of shipping regulations and policies;
Excellent organizational skills;
Ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
