Project: Design and Construction of the Mieso – Dire Dawa Segment of the Addis – Djibouti Regional Road Corridor, including Design & Implementation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS); Lot 1 and Lot 2: Mieso – Bike and Bike – Dire Dawa.

Job Description

CCECC Ethiopia Branch is seeking a qualified and experienced Project Manager for the Design and Construction of the Mieso – Bike and Bike – Dire Dawa segment of the Addis–Djibouti Regional Road Corridor, including the Design and Implementation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and control of the project’s design and construction activities. The role involves ensuring that the project is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while ensuring compliance with all contractual and regulatory requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, including design, construction, quality assurance, and ITS specialists.
• Develop and implement the project execution plan, schedule, and resource allocation.
• Supervise and review detailed engineering design, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with national and international standards, safety codes, and project requirements.
• Coordinate the integration and implementation of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).
• Manage construction operations, including site management, safety, logistics, and progress monitoring.
• Monitor project progress and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost estimates, and cash flow forecasts.
• Review and approve contractor claims, variations, and progress payments.
• Liaise with the Employer (ERA), consultants, local authorities, and stakeholders.
• Prepare and present regular progress and technical reports.
• Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and promote a culture of safety on site.
• Manage project risks, issues, and change control processes.

Required Qualification

Minimum Educational Requirement:

• MSc in Civil Engineering or other related field.

Experience:

• Total Experience: Minimum 15 years
• Experience in Similar Position: Minimum 6 years as Project Manager on major highway or infrastructure projects

Required Competencies and Skills:

• Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale road and infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of FIDIC contract conditions and project management procedures.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
