Organizational Profile: North Wollo Zone Woldiya University Higher Education Community Radio is a regionally registered non-profit, membership-based community radio serving audiences in North Wollo (Amhara), Southern Tigray, and North Western Afar. It provides objective, accurate, and comprehensive news and information to its target audience.

Position Summary: The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and management of the project “Laying the groundwork for peace and democratization through media innovation, civic partnership, and engagement”. This is a three-year project that aims to strengthen the capacity of media and civil society actors to improve citizen access to reliable information and foster inclusive dialogue for peacebuilding. The manager will ensure all project activities are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget, in close collaboration with the MERSA Media Institute and other consortium partners.

Objective of the Assignment: To lead and manage the successful implementation of the project by overseeing all aspects of the project cycle, including planning, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management & Coordination: Lead the project team, develop work plans, and coordinate activities with MERSA Media Institute and other partners. Ensure effective project execution, monitor progress against objectives, and manage all project-related documentation and communications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with key project stakeholders, including consortium partners, local community leaders, and government offices. Facilitate strong partnerships and ensure project activities are aligned with local needs and cultural norms.
  • Financial & Administrative Oversight: Oversee project finances, including budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E): Lead the implementation of the project's M&E plan, regularly track project performance indicators, and collect and analyze data to ensure project outcomes are being met. Prepare regular progress reports for the project lead and donors.
  • Capacity Building: Support the capacity development of the consortium member and new and emerging civil society organizations (CSOs) on project cycle management and institutional systems.

Reporting: Prepare comprehensive narrative and financial reports as required by the consortium lead and donors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working with non-profit organizations or civil society organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, implementation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of local norms, culture, and context in the Woldiya region is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic.
  • Ability to live and work in Woldiya, North Wollo.
