Job Purpose: The World Vision African Union Liaison Office is looking to recruit an Advocacy & Policy Officer. The Advocacy and Policy Officer will support the World Vision African Union Liaison Office (AULO) in advancing child-focused advocacy and policy engagement across the African Union (AU) and its organs. This role is designed for a motivated individual with a passion for child rights, development, and policy. The role will assist in research, policy tracking, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement, contributing to World Vision’s strategic priorities, including the ENOUGH Campaign on ending child hunger and malnutrition.

Policy Monitoring and Research 25%
 

  • Track AU policy developments and identify opportunities for engagement.
  • Support the drafting of policy briefs, reports, and advocacy materials.
  • Assist in analyzing AU themes and strategies to inform World Vision’s advocacy work.
  • Maintain a database of relevant AU decisions and outcome documents.

Policy and Advocacy 25%

  • Assist in implementing advocacy initiatives aligned with World Vision’s strategy.
  • Support the ENOUGH Campaign and other thematic priorities (nutrition, education, child protection).
  • Help coordinate advocacy events, side sessions, and youth engagement activities.
  • Contribute to the coordination and development of child-friendly materials.

Stakeholder Engagement and Networking 25%
 

  • Support relationship-building with AU departments, CSOs, FBOs, and partners.
  • Represent AULO in junior-level meetings and forums.
  • Maintain contact lists and engagement trackers.
  • Assist in preparing meeting briefs and follow-up notes.

Communications and Visibility 15%
 

  • Draft content for social media and newsletters.
  • Support documentation of advocacy activities and success stories.
  • Assist in managing AULO’s digital presence.
  • Ensure child safeguarding in all communications.

Administrative and Logistical Support 10%
 

  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and travel logistics.
  • Support budget tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain organized records and files.
  • Provide general administrative support to the AULO team.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification

Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.

Required Professional Experience

  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in advocacy, policy, or program support (internships and volunteer experience considered).
  • Familiarity with African Union institutions and child rights frameworks 
  • Previous experience working with a Liaison Office is an advantage.
  • Experience working with youth, CSOs, or faith-based organizations is desirable. 
  • Excellent writing skill: reports, policy briefs/papers, concept notes, proposals, articles

Required Language(s)

Excellent written and communications skills in English. Any AU official language will be an added advantage

Required travel and/or work environment accommodations

Preferred Experience,  Knowledge and/or other Qualifications

  • Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools. 
  • Knowledge of French or another AU official language is an asset.
