About the Organization

SCORE is a faith-based organization operating in social development and humanitarian interventions in four woredas of Gamo zone, in two Woredas of South Omo zone in SNNPR and in five Woredas of Borana Zone in Oromia region. The current intervention sectors include Livelihood enhancement, Conservation agriculture, WASH, health, education and women School-centered integrated community-based approach focusing on difficult to reach and marginalized communities. Currently, we also engage in humanitarian relief interventions for people affected by natural disasters in the areas where we present.

Job Level: Middle Management-Level (7-12 years) 

Job Summary: - The Area Team Leader oversees the overall administration and implementation of projects at the Area Office. She is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the team, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of project activities, and fostering a positive work environment conducive to collaboration and innovation. An Area Team Leader is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing a team within a specific geographical area, including tasks such as: leading and motivating team members, monitoring performance against targets, ensuring operational efficiency, resolving local issues, building relationships with stakeholders and other actors within their area, and reporting performance data to senior management. The role requires strong management, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a commitment to the organization's mission and values.

Major Responsibilities

The Area Team Leader will have the following responsibilities: 

  1. Provides overall leadership and management of the Area Office, including staff supervision, project oversight, and administrative coordination in collaboration with Operations Manager.
  2. Leads the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects in the area, ensuring alignment with organizational and projects goals and objectives.
  3. Develops and maintains strong relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and community members, and represents the organization at local meetings, events, and forums.
  4. In collaboration with HR officers, oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of area staff, ensuring that team members have the necessary skills and support to carry out their roles effectively.
  5. In collaboration with MEAL manger, monitor project progress and performance, and identify and address any challenges or issues that may arise in a timely manner.
  6. Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organizational policies, and legal regulations, and maintain accurate records and documentation related to project activities and expenditures. 
  7. Prepare and submit regular project reports to the Program and fund mobilization manager, providing updates on achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
  8. Support the development and implementation of fundraising and resource mobilization strategies to secure funding for projects and activities including taking active part in proposal development. 
  9. Promote a positive organizational culture based on transparency, accountability, and teamwork, and foster a safe and inclusive work environment for all staff.
  10. Manage the working team, delegate tasks, set work strategies and goals, handling of ongoing operations and promoting collaboration and teamwork.
  11. Discharge others duties assigned by her immediate supervisor and the management.

Job Requirements

Education 

MA/MSc in   Management, Development studies, Public Administration, Business administration, Development Economics, Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, Development management or any other related relevant field.

Experience

  • At least 7 years of relevant managerial and professional experience in a similar or equivalent role in an NGO sector.
  • Experience in managing complex programs with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in planning and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Proven experience in multi-actor program management.
  • Experience working with international NGOs and/or donor agencies is highly desirable,
  • Experience in managing cross-border programs with international NGOs
