What is TBRI®?
Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) is a trauma-responsive caregiving model that helps children heal by meeting their physical, emotional, and relational needs—while also inviting adults to do their own internal work so they can respond with presence, regulation, and connection. When caregivers, advocates, professionals, and organizations embrace TBRI® together, it becomes more than a therapeutic set of tools; rather a model of care and culture that shapes how we relate and heal, how programs are delivered, and how children are supported. Practiced within families, therapeutic settings, residential programs, and across organizations, TBRI® drives both personal transformation and global systems change by building shared language, strengthening collaboration, and shifting child-welfare environments toward safety, dignity, and long-term well-being for children and families.
