Job summary

The Head, Market Development, under the overall leadership of the Department Manager, is responsible for the overall planning, leadership, management and supervision of the Market Development functions. Also, he/she assists same in the maintenance of appropriate Market Research and Development records and preparation of Market Research and Development reports.

Roles and Responsibilities

1.     Plan, manage and evaluate marketing research and development operations in the company liaising the internal users of marketing research. 

2.     Prepares and implements best practice marketing research and development principles, policies and process in the company.

3.     Identifies and defines the objective of an assigned marketing research project; determines the best methods to use to meet those objectives.

4.     Drafts questionnaires, polls, surveys, and other data collection resources.

5.     Researches and compiles data related to current product market, customer demographics and interest, and factors influencing product demand; analyzes results to identify ways of maximizing sales and market penetration of current products.

6.     Compiles data related to competitors products such as pricing, sales, and marketing or distribution methodology.

7.     Summarizes and analyzes data; makes recommendations related to research findings.

8.     Reports findings, complete with graphs illustrating data and written text explaining complex findings.

9.     Identifies potential new products or markets through research.

10.  Forecasts and tracks industry marketing and sales trends based on collected data.

11.  Delivers reports and presentations of findings to management.

Position Requirement

2.1  Academic requirement: MA/MSC/BSC/BA in Marketing/Management/ Economics or related fields.

2.2  Work experience: 6/8 years’ experience in designing and processing effective Market Research and Development system in large business entities with trading, agricultural, and transport sector involvement is advantageous. Extensive knowledge and experience in preparing Market Research and Development manuals, systems, policies and standards is a benefit.

Desirable training: Market Research and Development tools like Market Research Management, Market development strategies, SPSS, ERP, MS Office, etc.
