Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and government regulations. The role involves managing day-to-day accounting operations, preparing financial reports, handling payroll and tax matters, supporting audits, and strengthening internal financial controls.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Recording and reporting functions including maintaining books of accounts in accordance with Financial Management Manual

• Assisting with accounting tasks such as invoicing or tracking purchase orders, preparing supplier payments

• Preparing staff payrolls

• Investigating accounting irregularities, mistakes or potential fraud

• Producing regular financial reports, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually & annually

• Following up on monthly governmental taxes (VAT, Income tax, Pension tax, WHT, Cost sharing)

• Bank reconciliation

• Ensuring compliance with legal accounting standards (renewing licenses, annual servicing of cash register machine)

• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable

• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results

• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending

• Support and assist external auditors with tax audits and tax returns

• Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule

• Support month-end and year-end close process

• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

• Liaise with Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to improve financial performance

Requirements

• At least B.A Degree in Accounting or Business Administration

• At least four (4) years of practical experience

• Knowledge of basic computer skills such as Peachtree is compulsory

• Knowledge of basic computer skills is mandatory
