Description

TruLuv Granola is an artisanal all-natural snacks company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We are a dynamic female-led business founded in 2016, producing healthy snacks made from ingredients sustainably sourced from local smallholder farmers and crafted by Ethiopian women.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our team. The Accountant will work closely with the Finance Manager and General Manager to ensure accurate financial records, strong internal controls, timely collections, and compliance with regulations. This role is critical to supporting TruLuv’s financial health and operational growth.

Core Responsibilities

Financial Record Keeping & General Ledger

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger records.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, deferrals, reclassifications).
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and key balance sheet accounts.
  • Work closely with store keepers, supply chain, production, and sales teams to ensure accurate stock records.
  • Reconcile and report monthly COGS and stock on hand.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process supplier invoices, verify approvals, and schedule payments.
  • Manage vendor accounts and respond to supplier inquiries.
  • Prepare, issue, and track customer invoices in a timely manner.
  • Maintain regular and active contact with customers for payment follow-up and collection.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and proactively follow up on overdue balances.
  • Coordinate with sales and management to resolve collection issues and discrepancies.
  • Apply customer payments accurately and reconcile differences.
  • Prepare and share regular AR and collection status reports with management.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Generate routine and ad-hoc financial reports for management use.
  • Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.

Compliance & Auditing

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable financial regulations.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
  • Manage tax payments and support tax filing processes with external advisors.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.

Payroll & Expense Management

  • Assist with or manage payroll processing and payroll reconciliations.
  • Review and process staff expense claims according to company policy.
  • Follow up and manage staff receivable accounts.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Use accounting and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Odoo) effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Support finance system implementation or upgrades as required.
  • Perform any other finance- or department-related duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or immediate supervisor

Skills and Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing or FMCG is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Soft Skills:

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong follow-up, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities.
  • High integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
