Purpose of the Job

The Export Business Development Manager leads and oversees the organization’s full export function, ensuring strategic market expansion, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The role is responsible for developing international business opportunities, managing end‑to‑end export logistics, strengthening export customer relationships, and driving cost‑efficient, timely, and compliant export operations that support the company’s global growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Organizing 

  • Coordinate overseas shipments with freight forwarders, compile required documentation for import/export processes and ensure compliance with international shipping laws and standards.

  • Compile, verify, and file all required import/export documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, export declarations).

  • Ensure compliance with international shipping laws, standards, and trade regulations (e.g., Incoterms, HS codes, sanctions/embargo checks, country-specific requirements).

  • Track shipments, maintain status updates, and proactively resolve delays, discrepancies, or exceptions.

Marketing & Sales Support 

  • Research export opportunities, evaluate potential for new markets, and pursue additional export sales leads.

  • Collaborate with sales to qualify and pursue export leads; prepare quotes and lead times based on logistics feasibility.

  • Provide insights into pricing impacts (freight, duties, taxes) for international proposals and tenders.

Customer Service 

  • Attend customer inquiries about export shipments, provide product information, and manage customer relations.

  • Maintain strong customer relations through timely communication, issue resolution, and post-shipment follow-up.

  • Coordinate with internal teams (sales, production, finance) to meet customer expectations and service-level standards.

Inventory Management 

  • Monitor current inventory levels and coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of export products.

  • Coordinate with supply chain/warehouse teams to ensure timely picking, packing, labeling, and dispatch.

  • Support cycle counts and accuracy checks for export stock.

Budgeting & Cost Control 

  • Develop cost estimates for international shipments and manage freight costs, customs taxes, and other associated fees.

  • Negotiate rates and monitor actuals vs. estimates; identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service.

  • Maintain records for landed cost analysis and support finance in accruals/reconciliations’ templates.

Working Conditions

  • This role requires frequent communication with international partners, often across different time zones.

  • May require occasional domestic and international travel for market visits, partner management, or trade-related activities.

  • Work is primarily office-based but involves regular coordination with warehouse, supply chain, and production areas.

  • High-pressure periods may occur during peak shipment seasons, tender deadlines, or urgent customer requests.

  • Extended working hours may occasionally be required to manage time‑sensitive export documentation or shipment issues.

  • Requires strict adherence to export compliance, safety, and company policies.

  • Must maintain professionalism while dealing with customs authorities, regulatory bodies, agents, and external partners.

Education:

  • MA Degree or BA Degree  in Marketing or Marketing and Sales or Business Administration or related fields.

Experience:

  • 6 Years of Work Experience for MA Degree or 8 years of  Work Experience for BA Degree in International Sales, Expanding the Company's Market presence or in related activities out of which 2 Years of Work Experience in Managerial position.
