ABYS Trading PLC is the leading Manufacturing Company of Ethiopia which manufactures agriculture products both for local and international markets. It has been active since 2012 and exports over 40 high quality value added agricultural products which meet world relevant standards to three main destination countries such as America, Canada and Australia and other locations.  Moreover, it distributed such products to local market. Nowadays, in line with government trade, marketing and development strategies, it strives to produce world class products of having high demand. This effort has allowed it to start to generate foreign currency and create job opportunity for 500 Ethiopian youths. 

Now it is seeking and Accountant and Export Officer who has a strong background in export business accounting activities. The officer is responsible for the overall financial operations of the export business, including cost accumulation of export products, managing export documentation, and working on budgetary related activities to ensure operational efficiency, while keeping the company policy, procedures, and financial guidelines as well as maintaining compliance with Ethiopian relevant regulations. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage all financial and cost accounts of export operations

  • Prepare budget forecasts

  • Prepare export-related documents (invoices, packing lists, etc.), monitor letters of credit (LC), and work with shipping/clearing agents.

  • Manage all accounting transactions

  • Monitor maturity date of obligations, loan settlement, collection of receivables etc. and report them to the Finance and Accounting Department Head.

  • Conduct bank reconciliation of accounts of the export operations on weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannually and annually basis

  • Prepare account balance for each export commodity and make necessary reconciliations with the corresponding store balances

  • Maintain cost records of exporting operations for each export product and make analysis to recommend improvements as appropriate

  • Manage receivables, reconcile accounts, and handle supplier payments.

  • Ensure timely bank payments

  • Adhere to financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary

  • Prepare and review of balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations for a company

  • Prepare report on a weekly, monthly quarterly, biannually and annually basis in compliance with GAAP ( if required), IFRS and Ethiopian standards for submission to the finance and accounting department head

  • Conduct cash management and treasury duties

  • Prepare weekly cash flow reports and present to finance and accounting head

  • Conduct export items stock control and analysis

  • Prepare VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory tax declarations in Ethiopia and statistical returns for the company

  • Produce draft Financial statements for the internal and external audits review

  • Do other assignments when deemed necessary (when ordered by the finance and accounting department head)

Qualifications:

Educational Background: 

  • BA in Finance and Accounting or a related field (Mandatory)
  • Apart from  having BA  degree in Finance and Accounting holding  BA degree in logistic and SC Management is  highly preferred

Experience:

  • Relevant experience of a minimum of two years in export company

  • High attention to detail, knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws 

  • Proficiency in Peachtree Accounting, MS Office (specifically Excel) ERP, etc

  • Computer literate with good numeric skills

  • Financial performance report writing, inventory control systems and accounting

  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of IFRS and other relevant laws

  • Communication skill of English and Amharic (both verbal and written)
