Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Business & Strategic HR Support

  • Partner with site managers and supervisors to understand operational objectives and workforce requirements.
  • Translate operational needs into practical HR solutions aligned with company policies and standards.
  • Support the implementation of HR initiatives at site level under the guidance of  HR Superintendent.
  • Provide HR input into manpower planning, shift structures, and workforce optimization.

2. Talent Management & Workforce Planning

  • Coordinate site-based recruitment activities in collaboration with the central HR and recruitment teams.
  • Support onboarding, induction, and site orientation for employees and contractors.
  • Assist in the implementation of performance management processes, including goal setting and reviews.
  • Identify skills gaps and support succession planning for critical site roles.

3. Employee Relations & Industrial Relations

  • Provide first-line HR support on employee relations matters at site level.

  • Support supervisors and managers in handling disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution.

  • Ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant application of HR policies and procedures.

  • Assist with union engagement and industrial relations activities in coordination with HR Superintendent.

4. Organizational Development & Site Culture

  • Support organizational change initiatives, including restructuring, expansion, and workforce transitions.

  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven site culture.

  • Reinforce company values, code of conduct, and ethical standards.

  • Support employee engagement initiatives and feedback mechanisms.

5. Learning, Training & Capability Development

  • Identify training and development needs in collaboration with site leadership.

  • Coordinate mandatory training programs on safety, compliance, leadership, and technical skills.

  • Partner with Learning & Development teams to address critical capability gaps.

  • Support coaching and development of frontline supervisors.

6. HR Policies, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian labor law, mining regulations, and company HR policies.

  • Support HR-related audits and inspections, including labor and workforce documentation audits.

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR data.

  • Monitor attendance, leave management, rotation schedules, and contract compliance.

7. HR Data, Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare regular HR reports on headcount, turnover, absenteeism, and workforce performance.

  • Analyze HR data to identify trends and support proactive solutions.

  • Provide HR insights to site leadership and HR Superintendent for decision-making.

8. Health, Safety & Employee Well-being (HR Interface)

  • Work closely with HSE teams to reinforce a strong safety culture.
  • Support employee wellness and well-being initiatives.
  • Ensure HR practices align with site safety standards and risk management requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.

Experience

  • 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in mining, construction, manufacturing, energy, or other heavy industries. Prior site-based or operational HR experience is highly desirable

Key Competencies & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of HR principles and Ethiopian labor legislation.
  • Good business and operational awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively in remote, multicultural, and high-pressure environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with basic HR analytics capability.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions

  • Site-based role with rotational roster aligned to mining operations.
  • May require extended working hours based on operational needs.
  • Exposure to mining site conditions in compliance with safety standards.
