Gesem Research and Consulting PLC is seeking a competent, trustworthy, and well-organized Accountant to manage the company's day-to-day accounting records, financial documentation, receivables and payments, reconciliations, and routine statutory financial requirements. The position requires strong practical ability in Peachtree/Sage 50 Accounting, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Key Responsibilities
The Accountant will record and maintain daily financial transactions using Peachtree/Sage 50; maintain the general ledger, cash book, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and supporting records; prepare payment, receipt, and journal vouchers; maintain proper filing of invoices, receipts, contracts, tax documents, and other supporting records; prepare client invoices and monitor outstanding receivables; follow up payments due from clients; process and document payments to suppliers, consultants, and service providers; prepare monthly bank reconciliations; manage and reconcile petty cash; assist with payroll preparation and related records; prepare periodic financial summaries for management; maintain project- and consultancy-related income and expenditure records; support tax declarations and other statutory financial requirements; prepare documentation for external audit; and perform other finance and accounting duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Accounting and Finance, or a closely related field.
Applicants must have good practical knowledge of Peachtree Accounting software and should be able to use the software independently for routine accounting transactions.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
Applicants should also have good communication skills in Amharic and English, good record-management skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
