Job Description
Background
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is leading the technical implementation of the National Eye Health Survey, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH), which provides overall leadership and coordinates with relevant partners. The survey aims to determine the prevalence, causes, and determinants of blindness, visual impairment, and other common ocular morbidities among the Ethiopian population of all ages. The survey will be implemented across regions and two cities in Ethiopia, urban and rural areas, and enumeration areas using standardized population-based survey methods. EPHI therefore invites qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the positions described below.

Duration of Engagement
The overall survey implementation period is expected to be six (6) months, including preparation, training, field implementation.Number Required: 1 / Duty Station: EPHI / Addis Ababa Ethiopian public health institute / Duration: Up to 6 months
Key Responsibilities
Perform data cleaning in collaboration with the Data Manager, including identifying and addressing missing data, resolving inconsistencies, verifying data quality, and ensuring accurate recording and coding of variables.
Coordinate the implementation of the survey activities, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and timely completion of planned activities. With EPHI, Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureaus, and partners.
Report daily to principal investigator and oversee implementation, timelines, and going with progress.
Ensure that all eye health survey instruments and equipment received from EPHI are properly accounted for and returned to EPHI at the end of the survey.
Perform other activities as assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI) and the survey team.
Monitor daily field progress, quality, protocol compliance, and ethical requirements.
Prepare and submit a weekly report and participate in weekly meetings
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualification:
Minimum of a MSc /MPH degree in Optometry and BSc Ophthalmic Officer/Nurse/Cataract Surgeon or Medical Doctor (GP) or an equivalent recognized qualification, with the relevant research experience in eye health
Research experience is highly desirable, with more than 10 years of relevant professional experience in the field.
Professional Requirement: Valid professional registration/license
Salary: ETB 58,173 per month
