Coffee Export Manager
Job Summary
The Coffee Export Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the company's coffee export operations. The successful candidate will identify international business opportunities, develop relationships with overseas buyers, coordinate export documentation and logistics, ensure compliance with applicable export regulations, and contribute to the growth and profitability of the company's coffee export business.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement coffee export strategies to expand international market share and increase export revenue.
Identify, negotiate with, and maintain strong relationships with international coffee buyers, importers, distributors, and trading partners.
Conduct market research to identify export opportunities, international price trends, customer requirements, and competitor activities.
Manage the export process from buyer inquiry and contract negotiation through shipment and delivery.
Coordinate coffee sourcing, quality inspection, grading, packaging, warehousing, and shipment arrangements.
Ensure the preparation and accuracy of export documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other required shipping and regulatory documents.
Ensure compliance with applicable Ethiopian export regulations, customs procedures, international trade requirements, and destination-market standards.
Coordinate with shipping companies, freight forwarders, customs agents, banks, and relevant government institutions.
Monitor international coffee prices, foreign exchange considerations, shipping costs, and export profitability.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, and contractual conditions to achieve favorable business outcomes.
Monitor export orders, shipment schedules, customer payments, and delivery performance.
Develop and maintain export sales forecasts, budgets, and performance reports.
Represent the company in international trade fairs, coffee exhibitions, and business meetings when required.
Lead and supervise the export team and ensure efficient coordination among relevant departments.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree or higher in one of the following fields:
Additional professional training in export management, international trade, or coffee quality and trading is an advantage.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in coffee export, international trade, export sales, or commodity trading.
Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory position is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience dealing with international buyers and managing export transactions.
Practical knowledge of Ethiopian coffee export procedures, customs documentation, international shipping, and export payment processes.
Experience in international market development and contract negotiation is an advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of coffee export operations and international trade practices.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and business development skills.
Good understanding of coffee grading, quality standards, and international market requirements.
Knowledge of export documentation, customs clearance, logistics, and shipping procedures.
Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of additional foreign languages is an advantage.
Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with international clients.
Strong leadership, planning, organizational, and reporting skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet export targets and deadlines.
