Job Title: Communication Officer
Reports To: Communication Manager
Location: Addis Ababa
Job Summary:
To plan, capture, edit, and produce high-quality photo, video, and audiovisual content that supports the organization’s communication objectives, promotes its services and products, and protects and enhances its corporate image. The position integrates camera operation and editing functions to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective multimedia production.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organise, and execute multimedia production activities in alignment with the organization’s communication strategy and branding guidelines
Capture high-quality photographs and video footage for events, official ceremonies, conferences, press briefings, interviews, documentaries, training programs, promotional campaigns, etc
Conduct location assessments and prepare production setups, including camera positioning, lighting arrangements, sound configuration, and background composition
Ensure professional standards of framing, exposure, color balance, sound clarity, and visual composition during all recording sessions
Operate professional cameras, drones (where authorized), audio recording devices, lighting systems, and related multimedia equipment safely and effectively
Edit raw video, audio, and image materials into high-quality finished products suitable for broadcast, social media, websites, digital platforms, and internal communication channels
Perform post-production tasks including cutting, sequencing, colour correction, colour grading, audio balancing, noise reduction, subtitling, captioning, and visual enhancement
Design and integrate graphics, animations, lower-thirds, logos, transitions, subtitles, and sound effects in accordance with branding and editorial standards
Collaborate closely with the Marketing and relevant departments to understand content needs, messaging priorities, and target audiences
Participate in content planning meetings and contribute creative ideas for storytelling, campaigns, and multimedia concepts
Ensure accuracy, consistency, ethical standards, and professionalism in all multimedia content produced
Adapt content formats for different platforms such as television, websites, social media, digital signage, and internal platforms
Manage digital asset systems, including proper naming, tagging, categorisation, backup, and secure archiving of raw and edited multimedia files
Maintain an organised multimedia library and ensure easy retrieval of content for future use
Ensure proper handling, routine maintenance, inventory management, and safe storage of all multimedia production equipment
Monitor equipment performance and report technical faults or replacement needs promptly
Ensure compliance with copyright laws, intellectual property rights, and data protection regulations in multimedia production and content use
Support live coverage, real-time content production, and urgent communication needs as required
Meet production schedules and deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards
Prepare basic production reports, content logs, and documentation as required
Continuously update skills and knowledge in emerging multimedia technologies, tools, and industry best practices
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in one or more of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Film Production, Multimedia Communication, Digital Media, Videography, Photography, Journalism, Mass Communication or other related fields.
Formal training or certification in videography, photography, Graphic Design, and video editing is an added advantage.
Experience Requirement:
Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant professional experience in multimedia production.
Proven experience in both camera operation and video editing.
Experience in a newsroom, corporate communication unit, media organisation, or public institution is preferable.
Competencies:
Strong practical skills in photography, videography, graphic design, and video editing
Proficiency in professional editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or similar tools).
Good understanding of visual storytelling, composition, and basic graphic design and video editing principles.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork skills.
High attention to detail and strong commitment to quality and consistency.
Ethical professionalism and respect for organisational values.
