Cost Accountant

General Purpose of the Job: General Purpose of the Job: The position is responsible for analyzing, summarizing, and preparing various cost related accounts and follow up of appropriate recording and reporting of cost of goods and services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect and organize budget requests of work units; participate in the preparation of annual budget.

• Prepare budgeted financial statements and schedules.

• Regularly analyses cost price of various raw materials, spare parts, labor, and services to evaluate cost effectiveness and profitability of the Company through developing appropriate cost accounting system.

• Prepare cost estimates of new or special products for establishing selling prices and production forecasts.

• Prepare annual inventory schedule and closely follow up appropriate and timely implementation

• Closely follow up of reconciliation of stock items with store balance (bin card) and general accounts records.

• Assist in the analysis and interpretation of gross margins, cost variances, inventory movements, and other accounting reports as they relate to cost.

• Assist in the establishment of appropriate costing system to ensure cost effectiveness and profitability.

• Organize and control routine compilation of operational costs for overhead, materials, and labor, verification of actual costs and computation of variances, etc.

• Develop formats that are used for collecting data on cost accounts

• Organize cost reports that help as an input to the preparation of periodic financial statements,

• Perform adjusting entries and correct errors on periodic financial reports.

• Closely follow up of the proper utilization of approved capital and operational budgets.

• Provide guidance to junior staff to effectively perform their assignments

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Level 3, level 4, BA/MA in Finance/Accounting and related field of studies.

Experience: 6/4/2 years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
