Cost Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for tracking, analyzing, and controlling our manufacturing and operational costs. Your insights will directly influence our pricing strategies, budgeting processes, and overall profitability. The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis skills and a deep understanding of inventory accounting.

• Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead. Analyze and report on monthly cost variances.

• Oversee inventory valuation, track work-in-progress (WIP), and lead monthly or annual physical inventory counts.

• Prepare month-end journal entries, reconcile ledger accounts, and calculate the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).

• Conduct margin analysis by product line, project, or SKU to support the executive team with pricing strategies.

• Collaborate with operations and plant managers to identify inefficiencies and implement cost-saving measures.

• Measure, monitor, and report on material scrap and manufacturing defects. Partner with plant managers to implement cost-saving initiatives to minimize waste.

• Design and maintain systematic allocation models to accurately distribute factory indirect costs (such as utilities, rent, and machinery depreciation) across product lines.

• Prepare cost-related journal entries, reconcile inventory ledgers, and assist the finance team during month-end and year-end financial closings.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, or Industrial environment .

• Strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP/IFRS), exceptional attention to financial detail, and a solid understanding of supply chain logistics.

• Advanced mastery of Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling) is non-negotiable.
