Job Description:

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) strives to address nutrition- and health-related challenges through population-based research and the generation of evidence to support the effective implementation of the Food and Nutrition Policy and Strategy. In this regard, the Nutrition, Environmental Health and Non-communicable Disease Research Directorate of EPHI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the World Bank, is conducting a midterm assessment of the Minimum Acceptable Diet (MAD) among children aged 6–23 months in selected Specific Purpose Grant (SPG) pilot woredas of Ethiopia.

Minimum Acceptable Diet (MAD) is a key World Health Organization (WHO) indicator for assessing infant and young child feeding practices among children aged 6–23 months. Adequate dietary diversity and feeding frequency during this critical period are essential for optimal growth and development and for preventing malnutrition.

Baseline data were collected in the selected SPG pilot woredas prior to program implementation, and the program interventions are currently being implemented. The midterm assessment is being conducted to assess the current prevalence of MAD and the change from the baseline.

The data collected through this assessment will provide evidence on program progress, identify gaps requiring further attention, and inform the strengthening of nutrition interventions to improve complementary feeding practices among children aged 6–23 months.

Responsibilities:

1. Each data collector will visit the randomly selected Households from the list of eligible households.

2. Identify and obtain informed consent from the selected target groups for a follow-up visit.

3. The data collector will interview all selected target groups in the household and accurately record their responses.

4. Review each questionnaire on the tablet prior to leaving the survey respondent's house and make sure all questions are answered correctly.

5. Data collectors should be willing to stay at the study site until the end of the study period

6. Each data collector is required to ensure that the quality and integrity of the data collected are of a high standard.

7. Measure the length and weight of eligible children

8. Each data collector is required to maintain good team spirit with team members

9. Each data collector should be willing to take additional responsibilities

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

• BSc in Human Nutrition, Food Science and Nutrition, Public Health, and Nursing and related fields with 0 years’ experience and a graduate between 2014-2018 E.C.

• Able to understand the tools developed for data collection

• Good communication and teamwork experience.

Language: 

Speaking and reading skills in Amharic and English are a must, other local languages skill has advantage.

Duty station/location: The selected candidate will be assigned to the study locations randomly.
