Position Summary
Daye Transport is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Deputy General Manager (DGM) to support the General Manager in overseeing the company's daily operations and strategic initiatives. The DGM will play a key leadership role in managing cross-functional departments, including Human Resources, Marketing, Procurement, Operations, and Administration, ensuring alignment with company objectives and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the transport and logistics sector, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of managing diverse teams and driving organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership
Assist the general manager in developing and implementing business strategies and operational plans.
Drive organizational performance and ensure achievement of company goals.
Support business expansion, customer acquisition, and service improvement initiatives.
Monitor industry trends and identify growth opportunities.
Operations Management
Oversee daily business operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and service quality.
Coordinate activities across departments to ensure seamless operations.
Develop and monitor KPIs and performance metrics.
Ensure compliance with transport regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
Team Leadership & Management
Provide leadership and guidance to department heads and teams.
Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of HR, marketing, procurement, administration, and other support functions.
Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Promote collaboration and effective communication across departments.
Financial & Resource Management
Assist in budget preparation and resource allocation.
Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
Support procurement and asset management activities to maximize value and utilization.
Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
Represent the company in meetings, negotiations, and industry engagements when required.
Risk & compliance
Ensure adherence to Ethiopian labor laws, transport regulations, and company policies.
Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Support the development and implementation of internal controls and governance practices.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Management, Transport Management, Economics, or a related field.
A master's degree (MBA or related field) is an added advantage.
Minimum 8 years of proven experience in the transport and logistics sector.
Minimum 5 years of leadership or senior management experience.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple departments such as HR, marketing, procurement, operations, and administration.
Proven track record of leading teams and improving organizational performance.
