Finnish Refugee Council (FRC) (www.refugeecouncil.fi) is an international non-governmental organisation with Head Office in Helsinki.

FRC was registered in Ethiopia and accorded legal status through Registry Number 4184 on 11th of June 2019 as a Foreign Organisation.
Job Purpose:
The Driver is responsible for providing safe, timely, and reliable transportation services for staff, visitors, and authorized passengers. The role also ensures proper care, maintenance, and cleanliness of the assigned vehicle while complying with organizational policies, Ethiopian traffic laws, and safety and security procedures.
Job Requirements
Education:
Completion of grade 12 and above
Valid Ethiopian driving license (3rd grade or above).
A certificate in Auto Mechanics is a distinct advantage.
Experience:
At least 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, UN agency, or international organization.
Experience driving in Gambella and surrounding areas is highly desirable.
Working Conditions
Frequent travel within Gambella project locations.
May occasionally work outside normal office hours to meet operational requirements.
Duration: One year contract with possible extension

Duties and Responsibilities:
Transportation Services
Drive staff, consultants, visitors, and authorized personnel to project sites, meetings, and other official assignments.
Ensure safe, defensive, and courteous driving at all times.
Plan travel routes considering road conditions, security updates, and weather conditions.
Support transportation during emergencies or urgent operational needs.
Vehicle Management
Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after each trip.
Ensure the vehicle is clean, roadworthy, and adequately fueled.
Monitor and report any mechanical defects or maintenance needs promptly.
Arrange routine servicing, repairs, and inspections in coordination with the Administration team.
Ensure all required vehicle documents are valid and available in the vehicle.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, including mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance records, and trip details.
Record fuel purchases and submit supporting documentation.
Report accidents, incidents, or vehicle damage immediately following organizational procedures.
Safety and Security
Comply with Ethiopian traffic regulations and organizational fleet management policies.
Follow security protocols and travel advisories.
Ensure seat belts are used by all passengers.
Carry emergency equipment and ensure it remains functional.
Administrative Support
Deliver and collect official documents, parcels, and supplies when required.
Assist with loading and unloading project materials.
Provide logistical support during meetings, workshops, and field activities as assigned.
Other Duties
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Professional Standards:
FRC staff must adhere to the values and principles outlined in the FRC Code of Conduct.
Safeguarding
The Driver is expected to uphold the organization's safeguarding, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Child Protection policies. Any safeguarding concern must be reported immediately through the established reporting mechanisms.
