Electrician

Job Description

A senior electrician in a food processing factory maintains, diagnoses, and repairs industrial production machinery, automation systems, and electrical power networks. Core duties include PLC troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and enforcing strict food safety compliance. 

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical faults in processing lines, packaging machines, motors, sensors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).

• Automation and Control: Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and instrumentation loops. 

• Preventive Maintenance: Execute routine checks and servicing schedules to minimize unexpected production line downtime. 

• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, permit systems, and food safety standards like HACCP, GMP, and ISO guidelines. 

• Installation and Upgrades: Commission new electrical panels, wiring, and machinery upgrades. 

• Team Guidance: Mentor junior technicians and coordinate external contractor tasks when major overhauls occur.

Job Requirements

• Education: Advanced Diploma/TVET Level IV/V in Electrical Technology. 

• Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience preferably within a food, beverage, or FMCG manufacturing plant.

• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in reading electrical schematics, handling high/low voltage systems, and working with industrial control networks.
