Job Title: Finance Manager

Department: Accounting & Finance

Reports to: Hotel Manager

1. Basic Function & Scope

The Finance Manager is responsible for establishing and executing internal controls over the hotel's accounting and financial procedures. The role provides financial leadership and accounting strategy for the department.

The Finance Manager provides accurate and comprehensive financial information to the Board of Directors for long-term strategy, and coordinates all financial planning functions with financial operations.

3. Work Contacts

Internal: Works closely with all departments and ensures that control measures are in place so that departments remain within their budget.

External: Works with government agencies, insurance agencies, auditors, contracted suppliers and service providers.

4. Supervisory Responsibility

Oversees the functions of the following sections: Accounting, Payroll, Cost Control, Purchasing & Stores, and Information Technology.

Work Performed

1. Works as a senior-level executive and develops the hotel's annual budget, as well as establishes long-term financial goals. As part of the budgeting duties, the Finance Manager works with all departments and helps them with their departmental goals and budget.

2. Works closely with auditors, providing needed documentation and correcting any identified problems or concerns.

3. Sets and enforces accounting policies and procedures to protect the hotel against fraud and theft.

4. Ensures that the hotel complies with all laws, rules, regulations and directives issued by various governmental and regulatory agencies.

5. Responsible for the management of Purchasing, Stores, Accounting, Inventory Control, Insurance/Risk Management and Information Technology.

6. Maintains close relationships with clients, and receives and solicits feedback to ensure that expected services and products are maintained and delivered by the hotel.

7. Ensures timely collection and disbursement of payments to clients and monitors cash flow.

8. Is part of all negotiations and signature of contracts on behalf of Jimma Palace Hotel to ensure that the hotel's financial interests are always protected.

9. Ensures that all licenses and permits under which the hotel, its managers and employees operate are kept valid and updated at all times.

10. Ensures that all periodic reports and payments owed to various government authorities are submitted and paid on time to avoid penalties.

11. Performs other duties as may be assigned by management.
