About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Finance Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end responsibility for the finance function, covering accounting, budgeting, reporting, cash management, tax and statutory compliance, purchase programs, Inventory and stock management and financial forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting functions, taking responsibility for building, supervising and developing the finance team and all finance resources supporting the company’s operations as well as allocating the responsibilities appropriately and monitor completion of finance activities.

  • Manage and oversee the full accounting cycle, including accounting ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, payroll, cash and local sales transactions.

  • Ensure adherence to tax laws, financial regulations, and internal policies.

  • Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with IFRS and Ethiopian requirement.

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly and periodic reports as well as annual financial report with external auditor.

  • Ensure appropriate financial information is available to support operational and strategic decisions.

  • Develop and maintain cash-flow forecasts and monitor actual cash performance against forecasts.

  • Monitor expenditures against approved budgets highlight significant variances, risk and emerging funding requirements.

  • Manage day-to-day banking transaction, including supplier payments, transfer and other approved payments and ensure that they booked accordingly.

  • Prepare and follow payment instructions and ensure appropriate supporting documentation and approvals are obtained before payments are released.

  • Liaise with banks on accounts administration, transaction queries, signatories, and other banking matter.

  • Plan, coordinate and follow-up on company procurement activities to ensure timely execution and support seamless operational continuity. 

  • Maintain and update accurate accounting records related to operational activities, and inventory management and operational expenses.

  • Monitor stock, inventory counting movements, reconciliation and investigate significant variances.

  • Take ownership of the company’s finance-related tax and statutory compliance requirements in Ethiopia, liaise with respective governmental authorities.

  • Coordinate the preparation and timely filling of VAT, withholding tax, payroll taxes, corporate income tax, pension and other applicable statutory returns.

  • Coordinate responses to tax audits, reviews, inspections and information requests.

  • Prepare or coordinate preparation of audits schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation.

  •  Build a culture of accuracy, accountability, integrity and continuous improvement in the department.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification and Experience.

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance and commerce or a related field.

  • Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA. or equivalent is preferred.

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably including experience at Finance Manager or senior accounting level.

  • Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.

  • Experience working with Peachtree, Excel and financial analysis skills.

  • Experience in horticulture, would be highly advantageous.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Language Literacy: Fluent in English, is a must.
