Job Description

ABOUT PRIME PACKAGING PLC

Prime Packaging PLC is an ISO 9001:2015-certified manufacturer of labels, pouches, folding cartons, and flexible packaging based at Kilinto Industrial Park, Addis Ababa. We serve leading FMCG and beverage companies including Heineken, BGI Ethiopia, Habesha Breweries, Dashen Brewery, the Coca-Cola bottler system, and Unilever.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Human Resource Officer provides support throughout the recruitment and administration process, monitors operational efficiency in time attendance and overtime, maintains payroll input summaries, and keeps employee records and personal files in good order to support HR decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment and Selection

  • Coordinate recruitment activities from vacancy announcement through onboarding.

  • Prepare and post job advertisements in appropriate recruitment channels.

  • Screen applications and prepare candidate shortlists based on approved job requirements.

  • Coordinate interviews, assessments, reference checks, and selection processes.

  • Prepare employment documentation and support contract issuance.

  • Maintain an organized and updated recruitment database.

  • Coordinate employee on boarding and orientation programs.

Employee Records and HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files and HR records.

  • Update employee information in HR systems and databases.

  • Prepare HR reports, letters, certificates, and other employment-related documents.

  • Monitor employment contracts, probation periods, transfers, promotions, and other employee movements.

  • Ensure employee documentation is complete and properly filed.

  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and organizational information.

Attendance, Leave and Benefits Administration

  • Monitor employee attendance, working hours, overtime, and absenteeism.

  • Administer annual leave, sick leave, maternity/paternity leave, and other approved leave.

  • Maintain accurate leave and attendance records.

  • Coordinate with payroll or finance teams regarding employee changes that affect payroll.

  • Support the administration of employee benefits in accordance with company policies.

Performance Management

  • Support the implementation of employee performance management processes.

  • Coordinate performance appraisal schedules and documentation.

  • Follow up on probationary and performance reviews.

  • Assist managers in maintaining appropriate performance records.

  • Support the implementation of performance improvement plans where required

Employee Contracts

  • Manage and maintain employee contracts.

  • Renew or terminate employee contracts in line with labor law and company procedures.

  • Follow up on performance appraisals for employees on probation.

Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain personnel files and other employee information.

  • Attend regular team meetings and contribute ideas and thoughts to colleagues.

  • Keep records and documentation in compliance with company standards.

  • Follow all SOPs, safety protocols, and company rules and regulations while performing the role.

  • Support implementation of IMS (ISO 9001 and FSSC) standards across the company.

  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • BA in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or another related field.

  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Strong teamwork skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Knowledge of IMS (ISO 9001, ISO 22000, FSSC) standards.

  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols.

  • Good knowledge of HR principles, policies, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of applicable labour laws and employment regulations.

  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

  • Good problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
