Job Description
Junior Accountant
MALLT Enterprise | Finance & Accounting Department
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Employment Type: Full-time
About MALLT Enterprise
MALLT Enterprise is a dynamic manufacturing and hospitality company founded in January 2026 in Addis Ababa. We operate across diverse business sectors, including Noodo Bakers, a market-tested subsidiary, and run two branches. We are guided by four values: precision, sustainability, innovation, and integrity.
We are a young company with a long-term outlook, focused on creating lasting value and contributing meaningfully to the Ethiopian economy. If you want to build your career with a growing organization where your work is visible and valued, we would like to hear from you.
The Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Finance team. You will be responsible for the accuracy of our daily financial records and for keeping the company compliant with its monthly tax obligations. You will record, review, and reconcile transactions across both branches, and you will help ensure taxes are correctly calculated, declared, and paid on time. Your work will give management the reliable numbers it needs to make sound decisions as MALLT Enterprise grows.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Accounting and Reconciliation
Record daily financial transactions accurately and on time, including sales, purchases, expenses, and receipts.
Review transaction entries and supporting documents (invoices, receipts, vouchers) for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
Reconcile daily transactions across the company's two branches, and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Reconcile cash, bank, and ledger accounts regularly.
Coordinate with branch staff to obtain missing information and clarify transactions.
Tax Compliance
Record and reconcile monthly Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax, and Payroll Tax transactions.
Prepare and submit monthly VAT, Withholding Tax, and Payroll Tax declarations within statutory deadlines.
Process payment of these taxes and keep proof of declaration and payment on file.
Follow applicable Ethiopian tax regulations and keep up with changes that affect the company.
Records Management
Properly code, sort, and archive all accounting records, invoices, and receipts, in both physical and digital form, so they are easy to retrieve for audits and reviews.
Maintain organized, up-to-date accounting records and supporting documentation.
Reporting and Support
Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing schedules and supporting reports.
Assist with preparing financial reports and summaries for management.
Follow company accounting policies and internal controls.
Perform other finance, accounting, and administrative tasks related to the role, as assigned by the Finance Manager or management.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance from a recognized institution.
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
Basic knowledge of Ethiopian tax requirements, including VAT, withholding tax, and payroll (income) tax.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
1 to 2 years of relevant work experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related finance role.
Hands-on experience preparing tax declarations and making tax payments.
Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Peachtree/Sage, or similar systems.
Experience or interest in manufacturing, food production, or hospitality accounting.
Professional certification progress (for example, CPA or ACCA) or a commitment to pursuing it.
Skills and Competencies
Precision: Strong attention to detail and a habit of checking your work.
Integrity: Honesty and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
Analytical thinking: Ability to spot errors and inconsistencies and trace them to their source.
Organization: Ability to manage multiple daily tasks, keep records in order, and meet tax and reporting deadlines.
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication, in English and Amharic.
Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues across departments and branches.
Initiative: Eagerness to learn, take feedback, and grow within the role.
